Poison

“The guy who’s a slave to money holds a whip, and pretends to be the master of the slave he bought with his money. He just doesn’t realize it himself. Everyone is a slave to something.”
Askeladd – Vinland Saga

Making good habits is much harder than making bad habits. Getting addicted is much easier than getting sober.

I don’t know why, but one thing that came to my mind is poison vs medicine. If you are poisoned, you will feel it really fast when compared to how medicine fast works.

Not just that but getting sick is much easier than getting healed.

It takes a couple oh hours in the wrong environment to get a flu that will leave you down anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks.

I think that the same thing happens to us mentally. Anger, hate, fear, insecurity, loneliness and depression are all poisons that affect us in crippling ways. On top of this, to quote an anime, everyone is a slave to something. It can be attention, power, money, alcohol, women etc. There are many things that people will literally sell their souls to get a bit more of this.

Between our poisons and our compulsive masters it can seem like there nothing we can do to be anything once we are caught, but that is wrong. We can overcome many things in our lives as long as we keep trying and keep a community of those who are willing to help us.

I don’t want to super depressing, so I wrote a bad poem

A drip in your system
is more than enough
not treating the wound
doesn’t make you tough
more than just a bit of scuff.

Chain dragging you down
breaking you and sinking you deeper
as you feel like you’re about to drown
broken by being a go getter.

With hands that you can trust
to hold you so you won’t burst
to help you overcome the lust
that get in the way of being just.
